AWC Staff Services are looking for a Civil Engineering Estimator to join our successful project team in South Yorkshire. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing tenders ranging in value from 5k to 3m across our client base within the gas industry, including Cadent Gas, National Gas, and National Gas Services. You must have experience in Civil Engineering, ideally within the gas industry. Be able to liaise with subcontractors and suppliers, manage multiple tenders under tight deadlines and have excellent communication and negotiation skills. Responsibilities: Review scopes of work and associated drawings. Raise technical and commercial queries in line with tender deadlines. Prepare estimates as both a Subcontractor and Principal Contractor, using direct labour where applicable. Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal departments to gather pricing and technical information. Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations for value and compliance. Produce technical responses and project execution statements (with support from the Health & Safety and project teams where needed). Draft initial tender programmes using Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 (planner support available for larger, more complex projects). Collate and analyse information for take-offs and planned submissions. Attend site visits and client meetings across the UK as required. Interpret framework agreements and NEC4 contract types (Options A, C, and E). Qualifications: Proven experience in civil engineering and construction, ideally within the gas sector. Strong commercial awareness with a keen eye for detail. Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and in a team environment.
