The opportunity We re looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of day-to-day finance for Smartbox Assistive Technology Limited and Smartbox Assistive Technology (EU) Limited. This is a hands-on leadership role in an international group environment, where your work will help provide the financial clarity, control and insight that supports our mission: creating AAC technology so everyone has the freedom to communicate, connect and be heard. What you ll be doing You ll lead the full month-end process, produce high-quality management accounts, strengthen financial controls, and support statutory reporting, audit preparation, payroll and regulatory submissions. You ll also guide and develop a small finance team, work closely with budget holders and senior stakeholders, and help improve the systems, processes and reporting that keep Smartbox moving forward. Why this role is unique This isn t a typical Finance Manager role; you ll be working at the intersection of: International, multi-entity finance within a growing group. Complex intercompany trading, reconciliations and controls. Purpose-led assistive technology that has a direct impact on people s independence and communication. With around 40% of entity revenues arising from intercompany trading, this is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys technical complexity, clear reporting and continuous improvement. What we re looking for We re looking for a rare combination of technical accounting strength, team leadership and hands-on ownership in a multi-entity environment. Essential experience Fully qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA or CIMA. Experience in a finance management or senior finance role, including ownership of month-end. Strong balance sheet control, reconciliations, management accounts and statutory schedules experience. Experience handling significant intercompany transactions and reconciliations within a group or multi-entity structure. Experience leading, developing and supporting a small finance team. UK payroll processing experience, with the confidence to manage pensions, benefits and relevant submissions. A proactive, organised and collaborative approach, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues. Some areas we often work with include International group reporting, consolidations or exposure to external audit. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, advanced Excel and financial systems improvement. Budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, working capital and KPI reporting.
