We are currently recruiting for a Multi Trader on behalf of a reputable, family-run building services company. Established over 30 years, they offer a range of building services to clients across the South East. They operate in a range of sectors including commercial, industrial, retail, leisure, FM and education. As the Multi Trader, you will be working on Commercial and Retail sites in London and surrounding areas. You will perform routine building maintenance duties, including painting and decorating, minor plumbing, carpentry, brickwork and general repairs. This is a permanent position paying £40k per annum. Ideally we are looking for candidates based near Croydon. Perks include van & fuel card, pension and overtime. You will receive 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with a view to increase over length of time. Responsibilities: To ensure all delegated Reactive Works orders and PPM's are completed within the contract defined time SLA's & KPI's. Ensure the Client, Customer and Team are 'kept in the loop' through feedback and regular updates. Perform routine building maintenance duties, including painting and decorating, minor plumbing, carpentry, brickwork and general repairs Keeping our sites compliant by ensuring regular checks are completed and reported Some administrative duties, such as filling out forms and reporting plus keeping maintenance records Comply with all safety and health regulations Diagnose and troubleshoot issues Communicate daily with helpdesk/Supervisor regarding status of PPM and Reactive tasks. Skills & Attributes Time served Multi Trader/Fabric engineer with a maintenance background. Background in mobile engineering/property maintenance. Ideally qualified in relevant trades (i.e: Carpentry, plastering, decorating or equivalent) Strong, demonstrable competencies in building services trades. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. An excellent understanding of Health and Safety. Competent in the use of computers and data handling including Microsoft Office systems. Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general mechanical systems is a plus Full UK Driving Licence. Mechanical & Electrical, Senior Appointments Hybrid, Permanent Discipline: Asset Management, Operations Management Speciality: Heat Networks, Maintenance UK Residency Required: Yes Apply by: 21/03/2025 Min Experience: 5 years The Opportunity A fantastic new opportunity has been created for an experienced Maintenance Manager or Team Leader with a background in asset management, specifically within Heat Networks. This is a newly formed division of an established leading Consultancy acting as the number two to the Head of Department. It is expected that as the role expands, you will grow into a leading expert in the operational management of heat networks, ensuring that the systems run effectively and efficiently, and that site performance meets client expectations and regulatory requirements. The Position As the Maintenance Manager / Team Leader you will be responsible for ensuring the operational performance of heat network sites, playing a key role between the client and the on-site O&M teams. The role requires a mix of technical experience with heat networks, strong organisational and communication skills, and the ability to respond proactively to operational issues. You must be comfortable managing contractors and ensuring compliance with site maintenance schedules and budgets. Within your role, you will be allocated within the Asset Management team, and will regularly liaise with the Optimisation, Quality Assurance and Delivery teams. Your core activities will include: Managing maintenance scheduling and ensuring compliance with statutory inspections, such as annual gas checks and heat network regulatory requirements, across multiple sites. Reviewing O&M evidence provided by contractors to verify that all works are completed correctly and meet the necessary standards for documentation and compliance. Providing reactive support for site incidents, including remote assistance and follow-up diagnostics to identify and resolve root causes. Acting as the primary point of contact between O&M contractors and the heat network operators, ensuring timely communication and resolution of any issues. Collecting, analysing, and reporting site data, including the calculation of site KPIs, and reporting performance updates back to clients. Overseeing the site budget, approving payments under agreed thresholds, and managing critical spare levels to ensure operational readiness. As the number of sites managed within the portfolio increases, you will play a key role in scaling the O&M function within the business, ensuring that client expectations are met. The Person It is essential that you have a strong technical understanding of heat networks and the ability to collaborate effectively with both site personnel and contractors. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workstreams across multiple sites. Strong communication skills to liaise between clients, contractors, and internal teams. Experience with managing site budgets, tracking spend, and overseeing contractor compliance with planned maintenance schedules. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other project management tools.
