Part Time Accounts Assistant Location: Onsite with occasional flexibility - Sheffield Hours: 20 - 22 hours a week Salary: Up to £32,000 Pro rata The Company Our client is a well established international medical technology business with Japanese headquarters. They specialise in the development and supply of advanced diagnostic and patient monitoring equipment used within healthcare environments worldwide. The UK operation supports sales, service and administration activities, working closely with colleagues in Japan. The Role This is a hands on accounting position within a small UK team of five, where flexibility and collaboration are essential. Whilst accounting is the primary responsibility, the successful candidate will also contribute to broader administrative support when required. The role would suit someone experienced, organised and comfortable operating within an international subsidiary structure, including regular reporting to overseas headquarters. The expectation is to be onsite with some flexibility around hybrid working. Key Responsibilities Preparation of financial statements Processing invoices, receipts, payments and other financial transactions Setting up and processing bank payments via online banking Maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger and bank statements Monthly and annual closing procedures, completing month end by the 5th business day Preparation and submission of VAT returns and other tax filings Account reconciliation and resolution of discrepancies Budgeting and forecasting Preparation of management accounting reports and materials for Japanese HQ Handling expense and payroll related payments Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation Providing documentation and explanations for audits Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders, including overseas headquarters As part of a small administrative team, the role will also involve providing flexible support outside of core accounting duties when required. Required Skills & Experience Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and taxation Clear understanding of how accounting entries impact financial statements Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables, VLOOKUP and IF functions Proven ability to manage and complete monthly closing schedules to strict deadlines Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently within a small team structure Preferred Experience Experience using SAGE200 and DEXT Experience managing monthly and annual closing processes Experience supporting external audits Budgeting and forecasting experience VAT and tax related experience Payroll processing, including expatriate employee tax matters Expense and payroll payment handling Inventory related processes such as receiving, shipping and ordering Experience working within a foreign subsidiary of an international company Japanese language skills, spoken and written, highly advantageous but not essential This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and respected international business in a role offering autonomy, responsibility and cross border exposure within a supportive team environment.
