Front and centre with clients, prospects and introducers building relationships. Working with clients and prospects via telephone, Teams and on a face to face basis, usually attending their premises. Taking new business opportunities through the full sales cycle from inception to closure. Taking advantage of cross sales opportunity that exists within the book. Developing new business opportunities through sales and marketing activities such as attending networking events, working on targeted sales campaigns, telemarketing and contacting lapsed clients. Working across a variety of trades and sectors including, Construction, Property Owners, Hospitality, Retail, Leisure and Manufacturing. Handling a wide range of insurance classes including Property, EL, PL, Commercial Combined, PI, D&O, Fleet and Cyber. Targeting clients in the £10-50k GWP range whilst also working on the odd larger client. Placement of own risk into the market. Hybrid working with lots of flexibility to run own diary. Casualty Solicitor Essex Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Employers' Liability and Public Liability (EL/PL) Casualty Solicitor to join our clients growing insurance practice. The role involves managing a varied and technically challenging defendant caseload. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who wants to play a meaningful role in a growing and ambitious firm. Key Responsibilities: Managing a full caseload of defendant EL/PL personal injury claims, including litigated matters Advising insurers and insured clients on liability, quantum, and coverage issues Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and schedules; managing disclosure and expert evidence Conducting negotiations and settlement discussions, including Part 36 offers and mediations Instructing and liaising with counsel and experts where appropriate Providing clear, commercial, and pragmatic advice to insurer and corporate clients Ensuring compliance with CPR, pre-action protocols, and client service level agreements (SLAs) Supporting junior team members where required and contributing to team development Building and maintaining strong client relationships Candidate Requirements Essential Qualified solicitor in England & Wales Strong experience in EL/PL casualty claims, (preferably gained within a defendant insurance environment) Confident managing litigated matters with supervision Sound understanding of liability, quantum, and procedural issues Strong written and verbal communication skills Commercial and pragmatic approach Desirable Experience advising on coverage issues alongside liability disputes Experience acting for insurers, TPAs, or large corporate insureds
