Main duties of the job This post includes direct clinical activity and supporting professional activities, during which the post holder will contribute to service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement, in addition to completing continuous professional development and pursuing other professional activities. The main responsibilities of the post include: Assessment and management of children and young people and providing psychiatric input for both routine and emergency clinical care in the neurodevelopmental service and in the Early Help team. Assuming responsibility for own case list and case management of children and families, in partnership with the MDT. Using pharmacological interventions, as appropriate, in partnership with children and their families and networks of care. Supervision of junior medical staff as required. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Duties of this post holder also include: Participation in training of medical students, psychiatric trainees, and multidisciplinary staff. Attending and chairing clinical meetings as timetabled. Considering safeguarding issues for each case, consulting with other professionals and referring concerns to the appropriate safeguarding teams as required. Communicating skilfully, tactfully, and sensitively with children, families, and other professionals. Maintaining the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing. Working as an autonomous professional within professional guidelines and the policies and procedures of the Trust. Linking with statutory and voluntary agencies and professionals as well as other CAMHS Teams. Maintaining good relationships and clear lines of communication with other professional agencies and departments. Participation in peer and group supervision meetings. Adhering to agreed job plan and appraisal procedures set by the Trust. Maintaining GMC registration and participating in CPD. Provision of prospective cross cover for colleagues during periods of leave. Person specification Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment. Evidence for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within six months of gaining CCT in C&A psychiatry. Section 12 approved. Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment. Training and Experience Experience in Outpatient/Community Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Experience of assessing and managing complex co-morbidities. Trained in ADI and/or ADOS. Experience of providing consultation to non-CAMHS practitioners. Special interest in neurodevelopmental conditions. Qualifications MRCPsych or equivalent. Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management. Clinical skills Excellent leadership skills. Excellent child and adolescent psychiatric assessment skills. Good ability to relate to children, adolescents, and parents/carers. Understanding of safeguarding.
