As our Principal Project Engineer / Project Manager , you will oversee diverse energy services projects, including Marine Warranty Survey and TPI/Certification, with a focus on FPSO and subsea installations. This role requires expertise in offshore engineering, managing multidisciplinary teams, and delivering complex projects while ensuring technical excellence through document reviews, calculations, and reporting. Based in our London office, you'll collaborate with global teams to optimize resources and drive project success. In addition, you will: Handle project management communication with clients and report management of resources and deliverables. Lead and manage marine warranty survey projects for FPSO and subsea installation work, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets. Oversee all aspects of project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. Review and approve engineering documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Review detailed engineering calculations for structural integrity, stability, and dynamic analysis of FPSO and subsea systems. Carry out technical document reviews, including independent spreadsheets and hand calculations. Ensure that installation and survey activities meet required safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Manage projects to ensure the highest quality delivery. Supervise and deliver technical reports and studies. Coordinate project execution with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders. Manage and mitigate project risks by identifying potential issues early. Provide technical and commercial leadership to junior engineers and project staff. Facilitate and lead project reviews, audits, and inspections. Communicate regularly with senior management and clients regarding project status. Support the development and continuous improvement of engineering procedures. Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development. Ensure project delivery in accordance with agreed technical standards and client contract requirements. Assist with the preparation of bids in conjunction with the Project Director. Collaborate with other disciplines and members of the ABL Group. Propose and develop new business initiatives. The role is based in London, UK and the candidate should have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom. Flexibility and willingness to travel, as well as readiness for onshore/offshore assignments at short notice locally and globally, would be required as agreed with your line manager. What we are looking for. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on energy and offshore industries, with experience in designing, installing, and maintaining critical infrastructure like FPSOs and subsea systems. In addition, you should have: An engineering degree in Naval Architecture, Structural, Civil, Marine, Subsea, or Mechanical Engineering, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Extensive experience with FPSO projects, including design, installation, commissioning, and offshore operations. In-depth knowledge of offshore systems such as subsea pipelines, risers, and mooring systems. Familiarity with international codes and standards and expertise in applying these standards to Marine Warranty Survey and certification work. Proven project management skills, including leading multidisciplinary teams. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Resilience, self-discipline, and the ability to work independently or in teams. Fluency in English, with proficiency in French considered an advantage. Desirable: Proven expertise in offshore survey operations, marine warranty certification, and adherence to SOMWS standards. Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
