Company overview: Our client is a leading provider of high-quality electrical engineering services in the North East of England. Due to continued success and growth, my client is looking for a motivated and experienced electrical estimator to join their team. Role Summary The Electrical Estimator plays a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase, providing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical and BMS systems across diverse sectors in the commercial and industrial markets. The role is central to securing successful bids, ensuring project profitability, and delivering value-engineered solutions that meet client expectations and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Analyse project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine the scope of electrical work required, ensuring that everything required to successfully bid and win the project is understood and communicated. Identify potential risks and opportunities associated with the project and propose mitigation strategies to address them. Liaise with design teams to resolve discrepancies and incorporate client feedback into final designs. Prepare detailed cost estimates covering materials, labour, and equipment necessary. Work with other suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain quotations (including the review and negotiation of quotations offered to ensure that the best terms and price are being provided) Carry out site visits with clients as and when required to discuss requirements and project specification/scope. Participate in post-tender negotiations and handover meetings to ensure a smooth transition. Work closely with project managers to assist in cost monitoring and control. Follow up on submitted bids and proposals to address client queries, provide additional details, and reinforce the company's value proposition. Utilize specialized estimating software to ensure accuracy and efficiency in cost calculations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients to identify new business opportunities. Qualifications and Experience Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role within the electrical industry. Expertise in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and specifications. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods. Advanced knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and systems (preferred). Skilled in industry-specific estimating tools and general software like Microsoft Excel. Senior Engineer (Heat Consultancy) - Asset Management - Central London My client is a heat network consultancy playing a leading role in the decarbonisation of heat in the UK. Founded in 2015, they have rapidly established itself as the leading experts on how to specify, design, deliver and operate low temperature heat networks in the UK. They currently require a Senior Engineer to join the business permanently in Central London. Role: Your core activities will include: Managing maintenance scheduling and ensuring compliance with statutory inspections, such as annual gas checks and heat network regulatory requirements, across multiple sites. Reviewing O&M evidence provided by contractors to verify that all works are completed correctly and meet the necessary standards for documentation and compliance. Providing reactive support for site incidents, including remote assistance and follow-up diagnostics to identify and resolve root causes. Acting as the primary point of contact between O&M contractors and the heat network operators, ensuring timely communication and resolution of any issues. Collecting, analysing, and reporting site data, including the calculation of site KPI's, and reporting performance updates back to clients. Overseeing the site budget, approving payments under agreed thresholds, and managing critical spare levels to ensure operational readiness. As the number of sites managed within the portfolio increases, you will play a key role in scaling the O&M function within the business and ensuring that client expectations are met. There is potential for out-of-hours involvement should critical site issues occur and you will be expected to support contractors in managing heat supply outages and other key operational challenges. It is expected that as the role expands, you will grow into a leading expert in the operational management of heat networks, ensuring that the systems run effectively and efficiently, and that site performance meets client expectations and regulatory requirements. Requirements: Essential Qualifications: Technical experience with heat networks, particularly those in operation. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage work-streams across multiple sites. Strong communication skills to liaise between clients, contractors, and internal teams. Experience with managing site budgets, tracking spend, and overseeing contractor compliance with planned maintenance schedules. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other project management tools. Desirable Qualifications: Technical experience in managing site outages and reactive repair processes. Ability to analyse site performance data, produce reports, and identify areas for improvement. Experience with risk management, maintenance and asset management key principles. Salary/Package: £60k-£67k per annum DOE.
