Graduate English Teacher £110 - £120 per day (salary is depending on experience and/or qualifications) Southend-on-Sea Full-Time (8.30am-3.30pm, term-time only) The School and Role We are delighted to be working with a high achieving school in Southend-on-Sea who are seeking a Graduate English Teacher to support students and cover in the absence of the class teacher. Our partnering Secondary school is seeking a confident Graduate English Teacher who is able to teach their subject specialism with lessons already pre-planned for you. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work towards their QTS from September, through a salaried teacher training route. As a Graduate English Teacher, you will be responsible for leading lessons of approximately 30 pupils in the absence of the class teacher. You will cover lessons from KS3-KS5 so you must have a good knowledge of your specialist subject up to A-Level. The lesson will always be planned, and this will be provided in advance. It is your role as the Graduate English Teacher to facilitate the classes learning, manage classroom behaviour, record accurate registers, and provide a handover to the absent teacher. Successful Graduate English Teachers are adaptable, flexible, motivated, confident and organised, they have a passion for education and supporting young people. This Graduate English Teacher role provides a great opportunity to gain experience of working within a Secondary school prior to applying to Initial Teacher Training. Although previous experience of working in a Secondary School is desirable it is not essential. Requirements The desired Graduate English Teacher will have: - A bachelor s degree in English Language or English Literature from a top University. - Knowledge of your specialist subject up to A-Level. - A natural leader and someone with the confidence to lead a lesson in the absence of the class teacher. - A passion for education and providing the highest possible level of support to young people.
