Sports Coach and Mentor (Worcestershire) We have a range of roles available from 2 hrs per week to several days a week. We are primarily looking for self employed coaches, however, we would consider employment for the right candidate. Redgate Sports is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of children and young people through sport and mentoring. Due to growing demand and recent funding, we are looking for motivated, self employed Sports Coaches and Mentors to join our team in Worcestershire. About the role: You will deliver high quality sports coaching and mentoring sessions in schools and community settings. The role involves supporting vulnerable children, helping them build confidence, develop skills, and experience the positive impact of sport. There is no fixed venue - sessions take place across Worcestershire, with occasional work in nearby areas. The post holder will deliver quality coaching, management and organisation to the University of Huddersfield Women's Basketball Team. This team competes in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS). This role will primarily be responsible for the coaching of the team, as well as leading on mentoring student coaches, the club trial process and linking with other club coaches. The team trains once a week (Thursday, 17:00-18:30) at Student Central, Queensgate campus and play across the Northern region on a Wednesday afternoon in BUCS. Plan and deliver an effective pre-season in September and after the mid-season break in January. Lead the 1st team with input from the assistant coach, team captains to select playing squads and maintain a transparent selection processes and pathways between squads. Assist in recruiting students to engage with coaching opportunities, providing opportunities where appropriate to coach within the club. Mentor student coaches within the club and offer support where appropriate to members who wish to undertake coaching qualifications or opportunities within the Coaching Pathway. Provide regular information and status reports, as agreed with the Students' Union, on team and club performance and progress. Work closely with ActiveHud, West Yorkshire Hawks, the Students' Union and committee members to assist with the development of Women's Basketball at The University of Huddersfield. From first-time participation through to high-performance athlete support, you'll drive the delivery plans that grow engagement, raise standards, and help students fulfil their potential through sport - both on and off the pitch. This is a role for someone who leads with ambition and accountability. You'll manage the Sports Delivery function, set clear KPIs, develop your team, and own budgets and resourcing decisions.
