Head of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum A vacancy has arisen within an established engineering function at a UK-based industrial processing facility. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a highly skilled Electrical and Instrumentation team within a regulated environment. An immediate start is available for the successful candidate. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Overall responsibility for managing the Electrical & Instrumentation department, including a team of engineers and external contractors where required. Lead on project work, including design, specification, and installation of electrical and instrumentation systems for capital and maintenance projects, ensuring expenditure is controlled within approved budgets. Oversee maintenance operations, including the development and implementation of Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance systems. Promote and maintain a strong Safety, Health & Environmental culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and internal procedures. Liaise with internal stakeholders across the organisation, as well as external suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies. Qualifications and Experience: Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Instrumentation & Control; a degree is desirable. At least 10 years post-qualification experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role within an instrumentation & control environment. Strong expertise in PLC/HMI programming (experience with platforms such as RSLogix 500, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk View is advantageous). Good understanding of hazardous area classifications and relevant safety standards. Experience with functional safety in an industrial/process plant setting. Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and adapt to changing operational priorities. Proficiency in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Strong leadership and personnel management skills. Competent in standard engineering and office software (e.g. AutoCAD, Microsoft Office).
