Private Client Solicitor We are seeking an experienced and highly competent Private Client Solicitor to join our Private Client team. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of probate matters, including both taxable and non-taxable estates, providing clear, practical, and empathetic advice to clients at what can often be a sensitive time. This is a client-facing role requiring strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to case management. You will play a key role in supporting the growth of the department through commercial awareness and business development initiatives, working both independently and collaboratively within the team. Key Responsibilities Take full responsibility for managing end-to-end probate matters from initial instruction through to estate distribution, including complex and high-value estates. Provide clear, structured advice on estate administration, inheritance tax implications, and strategies to reduce tax liability where appropriate. Draft and advise on wills, including trusts and elements of tax planning. Prepare and register Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) with the Office of the Public Guardian. Ensure all work is carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and firm-wide risk and quality standards. Supervise, mentor, and support junior team members where required. Actively contribute to business development initiatives to support the growth of the probate department. Candidate Requirements Qualifications & Experience Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive, or STEP-qualified Practitioner. Minimum 5 years' PQE in private client work, specifically probate, wills, and LPAs. Strong technical knowledge of estate administration and inheritance tax. Skills & Attributes Commercially aware, with the ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities. Excellent communication and client care skills, with a sensitive and professional approach. Self-motivated, organised, and capable of managing a varied and complex caseload. Proactive, collaborative, and committed to contributing positively to the wider team and departmental success. Desirable (but not essential) STEP membership or a willingness to work towards qualification.
