We are seeking an experienced Lead Mobile Engineer to support our clients in the strategy, development, and execution of mobile applications across platforms. This role will have different responsibilities depending on the state of the projects which may be: Leading a team of talented engineers and collaborating with product, design, and other cross-functional teams to deliver world-class mobile experiences to our users Propose technical state-of-the-art architectures for a new app or the evolution of a current application Leadership & Strategy Serve as a mobile technology expert and advocate across the company Knowledge of state-of-the-art technical approaches Monitor market trends and mobile product behaviors (e.g., analyzing average time spent on mobile purchase journeys in retail apps) Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing mobile engineering team Drive best practices in coding, architecture, security, and performance across mobile platforms Delivery & Execution Oversee the development, deployment, and maintenance of all mobile applications Champion a quality-driven approach, establishing robust CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and app stability metrics Ensure timely delivery of high-quality software through agile methodologies Partner with Product Management and Design to scope features and set technical direction Ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical client stakeholders, helping clients navigate the trade-offs between speed, cost, and technical debt Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with backend and web teams to ensure seamless API integration and a consistent user experience Deep knowledge of REST / GraphQL is a plus Innovation & Growth Stay current with industry trends and assess emerging technologies for future mobile strategy, e.g.: KMP+CMP vs Skip Community & Advocacy Drive internal and client initiatives around mobile: talks, workshops, etc. Note: this role requires you to be on-site in London 3 days a week. Proven experience (10+ years) in mobile engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role Strong technical expertise in native iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Kotlin) development While Android and iOS native development is a major focus, there are also projects in React Native, Flutter, KMP/CMP; having experience with more than one framework is a plus, but it's essential to have deep knowledge of one and willingness to learn others Experience leading teams of mobile engineers, ideally in a high-growth or consumer-facing company Deep understanding of mobile architecture, design patterns (MVVM, MVI, etc.), and platform-specific guidelines Track record of delivering and scaling complex mobile apps with millions of users Excellent communication (in English) and strategic thinking skills Preferred Qualifications Experience working in an AI-First development environment or using AI tools to enhance engineering robustness and efficiency Experience with cross-platform frameworks (e.g., React Native, Flutter, KMP/CMP). The successful candidates will work as key members of programme teams, partnering with business and technology stakeholders to define target architectures, support technology selection, guide implementation approaches, and ensure solutions align with wider enterprise strategy. These roles are initially expected to support programme delivery through key architecture phases, including discovery, design, procurement, selection, and implementation. Engagements are expected to run for approximately 4-6 months, or until permanent architecture capability is established. The roles are hybrid, with occasional travel required to programme locations as needed. Role Purpose Lead architecture for an omni-channel order management transformation programme, improving customer experience, fulfilment efficiency, and operational capability.
