Senior Landscape Architect/ Landscape Planner About the Role An established and growing landscape consultancy is looking for Landscape Architects and Landscape Planners from Graduate through to Senior level to join its expanding team. This is an opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of projects, contributing to landscape-led planning, assessment and design. The successful candidates will be proactive, creative and keen to find practical solutions to project challenges while delivering high-quality work for clients. The team brings together a broad range of skills across landscape planning and design, providing robust landscape planning advice alongside landscape-led masterplanning and high-level design. Projects range from smaller residential schemes through to major infrastructure and nationally significant renewable energy projects. Senior candidates will have the opportunity to develop and manage their own portfolio of clients and projects, while more junior candidates will receive structured support with career development, including progression towards Chartered Landscape Architect status. The role is primarily based in London, with applications from Senior Landscape Architects based in Manchester also being considered. Key Responsibilities Supporting or leading the preparation of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs), producing high-quality written and graphical outputs. Undertaking site appraisals, photography and baseline landscape analysis to a high technical standard. Managing smaller projects independently, with support available where required. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including planning, masterplanning, transport, ecology, heritage and environmental specialists. Contributing to landscape design, mitigation strategies and landscape-led masterplanning. Attending and contributing to client meetings, site visits and stakeholder engagement. Developing professional and industry knowledge through CPD, networking, business development and wider sector engagement. For more senior candidates, developing client relationships and contributing to business development and the growth of the team's project portfolio. About You The ideal candidate will have: A degree in Landscape Architecture, or a relevant degree such as Town Planning, Geography or Urban Design with a strong interest in landscape planning. Experience or a strong interest in landscape planning. This is not primarily a detailed landscape design role. Experience in, or exposure to, LVIAs and/or Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Chartered Landscape Institute membership, progression through the Pathway to Chartership, or a willingness to work towards Chartership. Good IT and technical skills, including experience with CAD/Vectorworks and Adobe Creative Cloud. The ability to work confidently with clients, consultants and other professionals. A proactive approach to professional development and keeping up to date with industry knowledge, guidance and technology. The right to work in the UK. Senior Landscape Planning & LVIA specialist - Hybrid/Remote An established and growing UK landscape consultancy is expanding its specialist landscape planning team and is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Landscape Planning & LVIA Specialist. The practice works across a varied portfolio of major development and regeneration schemes, providing landscape architecture, landscape planning and environmental assessment expertise from the earliest stages of project development through to planning and delivery. Its work includes strategic residential developments, large-scale masterplanning, new communities and other complex schemes where landscape and visual considerations are central to creating successful, sustainable places. The team works closely with developers, landowners, planning consultants, architects and wider environmental disciplines, providing landscape-led advice that helps shape development proposals and navigate the planning process. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced LVIA professional to join a growing team and play a significant role in the delivery and development of its landscape planning services. The Role The successful candidate will take a senior position within the landscape planning team, leading technical assessment work while contributing to the wider landscape strategy and design process. This is not solely a report-writing position. The role will involve using LVIA and landscape planning expertise to influence projects from their early stages, helping multidisciplinary teams understand landscape opportunities and constraints and ensuring assessment findings inform masterplanning and mitigation strategies. You will work across a range of strategically important projects, while also supporting junior colleagues and contributing to technical standards and the continued growth of the team. Key Responsibilities Lead and contribute to Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments, Townscape and Visual Impact Assessments and Landscape and Visual Appraisals. Undertake landscape and visual baseline studies, including site surveys, landscape character assessment and viewpoint analysis. Prepare and review technical reports, plans, figures and supporting documentation. Provide landscape planning advice throughout the development of major residential and strategic growth proposals. Develop and review landscape mitigation and green infrastructure strategies. Advise project teams on landscape opportunities, constraints, planning policy and environmental assessment requirements. Work collaboratively with planners, architects, ecologists, environmental consultants and other technical specialists. Lead client meetings, workshops and presentations, communicating technical findings and recommendations effectively. Review and quality-assure LVIA and related technical work produced by colleagues. Assist with project management, including programmes, budgets, fees and client relationships. Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team. Contribute to the continued development of the consultancy's landscape planning and LVIA capability. About You The ideal candidate will be an experienced landscape professional with a strong technical background in LVIA and a wider understanding of landscape planning and development. You should have: At least five years' post-CMLI experience. Strong experience preparing LVIAs, TVIAs and/or LVAs in accordance with industry guidance and best practice. A good understanding of the UK planning system and Environmental Impact Assessment processes. Experience working on large-scale residential, strategic growth or masterplanning projects. The ability to provide landscape planning advice from site appraisal and concept stages through to planning. Experience managing projects, including budgets, programmes and client relationships. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong technical report-writing capabilities. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with GIS, particularly ArcGIS, would be advantageous. The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. A full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake site visits. Qualifications Landscape Institute-accredited degree, diploma or master's qualification in Landscape Architecture. Minimum five years' post-chartership experience.
