Job description: XiP is building a next-generation cross-asset calculation system for Citi trading desks and enterprise users in the largest global financial markets and exchanges in New York, London, and other major financial hubs. Our team owns multiple Java Spring Boot Services that execute, partition, and track quantitative risk graphs/trades in a distributed environment. These graphs can fail due to their complexity and our system must adapt quickly to these failures to provide a seamless experience for clients. XiP Compute Services are deployed onto OpenShift and Amazon's Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS). An important initiative in 2025 will be onboarding Google's Kubernetes Engine to further expand our coverage. Our system scales on-demand, and we can run up to tens of thousands of replicas of our services across all asset classes. The role of the Senior Technical Lead is to lead a variety of engineering activities including design decisions regarding technical direction of the platform with short, medium, and long-term changes, with a key focus on public cloud onboarding. The project requires constant review of the technologies, patterns and paradigms used to ensure the system is easy to understand, performant, scalable, testable, robust, and observable. The role is a conjunction of technical and managerial roles, with line-management duties, while giving technical direction to a growing team of developers globally. The platform is a Greenfield build using standard modern technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Kafka, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Solace, Apache Ignite. The platform runs in a hybrid mode both on-premise and in AWS utilizing technologies such as EKS, S3, FSX. The main purpose of this role is to lead efforts of continued platform onboarding to AWS as well as the new initiative to deploy into GCP. The project is in a scale-out phase, with a goal of expanding the user base and workloads towards running billions of financial calculations per day across hundreds of thousands of cores. The aim of the project is to run all finance calculations for Citi's Front Office Markets business globally. Responsibilities: Steering platform onboarding into AWS and Google Cloud, while collaborating with Citi HPC team and AWS/Google partners. Challenging proposed and provided solutions in terms of performance, robustness and cost effectiveness. Making decisions regarding technical direction of platform, including evaluating new technologies and executing proof-of-concept implementations, with good understanding of various limitations. Identifying and defining necessary system enhancements to improve current processes and architecture. Hands-on coding of fixes, features, and improvements. Investigating reported or observed platform issues. Reviewing pull-requests from other team members and giving robust critique/feedback. Identifying and proposing teamwork enhancements. Reviewing requests for new features, balancing user requirements with defending the platform from complexity and low-value features. Collaborating with key partners across the firm for extending the platform, such as: the infrastructure provider group; quant group; upstream and downstream systems. Mentoring/coaching junior developers on coding/architecture approaches and best practices. Skills and Experience: Expert knowledge of distributed systems including event-driven architecture; at-least-once messaging; CAP Theorem; horizontal and vertical scaling strategies; massively distributed architectures. Expert knowledge of Java, JVM, memory management, garbage collection. Thorough understanding of multithreaded environment challenges. Expert knowledge of Spring, SpringBoot framework and associated technologies. Expert knowledge of test frameworks, such as Junit, Mockito, writing easily-testable code. Expertise in Java debugging, including remote debugging of services deployed to K8s. Expert knowledge of Kubernetes and associated technologies such as KEDA, Karpenter, ClusterAutoscaler, CoreDNS. Expert knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL database technologies. Expert knowledge of various messaging protocols and technologies such as REST, HTTP/S, AMQP, WebSocket. Expert knowledge of Confluent Kafka. Experience and good understanding of core technologies provided by GCP/AWS, such as S3, FSX, EKS, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, AmazonMQ, DynamoDB, GKE, CloudStorage, PubSub, Filestore. Knowledge of modern observability technologies such as ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Micrometer. "What-if" thinking, while designing or reviewing solutions, to foresee or catch potential problems as early in the development process, as only possible. Nice to have: Good knowledge of Python, Groovy, Bash. C++ basic knowledge/experience. Good knowledge of PubSub model. Good knowledge of Finance, especially large-scale risk calculation. Good knowledge of representing complex calculations as graphs of instructions which can be horizontally distributed. MOO set out to shake up the world of print back in 2006. And we've come a long way since. Today we're a 400 + strong team (we're thinking of getting matching jackets) who create print and digital products for companies of all sizes - from Google and AirBnB to the guy who makes those amazing prints you found at a craft fair. Our global HQ is in London, UK, while we also have premises in Dagenham. In the US, you'll find us in Boston, MA, as well as East Providence, RI and Denver, CO. We're making new and exciting things - and we could really do with your help. As a Senior PM working within the Ecommerce Product team at MOO, you will be accountable for understanding and balancing the needs of the user and business at the top of the funnel. With a particular focus on growing the amount of quality sessions funnelling through the landing and website pages, and then handing over to the customisation Product - where users upload their artwork and design their physical products. You'll need to consider how users arrive at the site, as well as the complexities in customising and purchasing our products further downstream - ensuring that a seamless experience is provided to our users. To do this effectively, a great understanding of the end to end experience is needed, and a highly collaborative working style is essential to ensure that across the ecommerce experience there's alignment across Product, UXD, and Engineering. Our Product team is growing, and this role will be accountable for leading a cross functional team on defining Product outcomes, driving strategic prioritisation, testing and building our technical platforms, based on our strategy. You will work closely with the Head of Product on the future direction of the platforms - and ultimately of MOO. There is a real mix of greenfield technology, continuous delivery, and customer facing discovery work to drive. But most importantly, it is about our fabulous internal and external customers. Responsibilities You'll be a strategic leader, responsible for defining and executing product initiatives within the ecommerce space, creating impactful product value propositions for both B2B and B2C markets. The role involves developing and communicating long-term strategies that reflect evolving market trends and innovations, while also ensuring short-term delivery objectives are met. Key responsibilities include defining and aligning the product vision, managing your Products roadmaps, and planning cross-functional initiatives to achieve quarterly and yearly goals. This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and key stakeholders, to ensure the successful execution of product launches and ongoing iterations. You'll take ownership of the product discovery process, ensuring hypotheses are tested and decisions are driven by robust data insights. Leading user research and ensuring a customer-centric approach are crucial, with a focus on balancing quantitative and qualitative insights to shape product development. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting clear KPIs, creating performance dashboards, and driving the team to meet targets, while fostering a culture of agility and flexibility. They will be adept at managing iterative development processes, leading teams through pivots and changes, and ensuring that delivery remains aligned with both the product strategy and the wider business objectives. Key skills include a deep understanding of ecommerce platforms, order management systems, and site merchandising, alongside expertise in user experience, design principles, and data analytics. The ability to transform data into actionable insights and effectively communicate these insights to inspire and align teams is essential. Experience working in cross-functional, agile teams and strong stakeholder management skills are vital to success in this role. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both B2B and B2C ecommerce, using their expertise to ensure optimal product-market fit and drive business growth. A highly motivated self-starter, you will be capable of managing competing priorities and thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. About You We're looking for someone who has a genuine passion for Product Management. You enjoy dissecting processes, putting ideas back together, identifying challenges, and engaging in constructive discussions about features. Complex product challenges intrigue you, and you're always on the lookout for elegant, simple solutions. With an agile mindset, you thrive on learning and adapting, recognising when to pivot based on fresh insights. You're committed to quality and meticulous in both written and numerical details. Technically skilled, you have a solid record of successful delivery in technical roles. You can effectively translate complex technical capabilities and constraints into clear, accessible language, guiding and enhancing technical improvements along the way. You're adept at balancing an understanding of both customer needs and technical architecture, enabling you to track key metrics and ensure products meet critical service standards. Customer focus is at the core of your work. Actionable insights drive you, and you prioritize user research, actively seeking ways to understand your users better and address real customer needs. Positive and empathetic, you approach challenges with patience and a user-centred perspective. You enjoy building and strategising, and an ideal week for you might include user story mapping, diving into data for insights, collaborating with stakeholders to optimise and innovate, reviewing and approving stories, and celebrating team achievements. You're comfortable discussing data flows, collaborating with architects and engineers on technical limitations, working with Designers and Researchers on discovery, and you have an intuitive sense for recognising issues early on. Self-motivation is key to your success. Driven by a desire to deliver excellence, you continuously look for ways to enhance the customer experience. You work well independently, with minimal supervision, and proactively push forward to create meaningful outcomes for both internal and external customers. Nice To Haves Working with strategic 3rd party partners, suppliers and SaaS solutions. Familiarity with merchants' technology stacks - ecommerce platforms, payment gateways or order management systems Experience of contract negotiation and vendor selection What's it like to work at MOO?
