Principal Accountabilities: Ensure rapid and safe response to emergency calls as directed by Network Operations or local office. Provide and accurate information on fault conditions, carry out initial fault location and liaise with local staff on repairs. Investigate voltage complaints and instal test equipment. You will deal with members of the public, emergency services and local authorities when representing UK Power Networks in emergency situations. They will work as part of a team covering a shift rota pattern for the period 7:00am to 11:00pm and the rota pattern (will include standby cover but not contractual). The successful candidate, where required by the Company to undertake operational standby duties these standby duties will be a contractual commitment on a permanent basis. It is expected that you will commit to standby duties permanently unless formally agreed by our organization in view of health or personal reasons. Qualifications: You will preferably be authorised for 11KV switching and LV Linking, it is also possible that they will have developed metering skills. The Role As a Principal Safety Case Engineer , your responsibilities will include but not limited to: Providing the nuclear safety input to design projects, ensuring that nuclear safety requirements are incorporated Providing the nuclear safety input to bids Preparing and agreeing the Safety Case Strategy Producing, verifying, and approving calculations, analyses, design basis documentation and technical reports Managing delivery for the work undertaken within their agreed remit against cost and programme to the satisfaction of the Key Stakeholders i.e. Safety Case Managers, Safety Case Owners, Client Team, Safety Committee, INSA/Peer Review, NSC, Regulators You To succeed within the role of a Principal Safety Case Engineer , you'll have experience in a similar position and have the following skills: Bachelor Honours Degree (minimum) in Science or Engineering related discipline Cross-industry experience, knowledge of a wide range of nuclear facilities and their operations Experience in developing and preparing safety documentation for projects such as Hazard Management Strategy, Safety Reports (PSRs, PCSRs etc. and equivalents), ALARP arguments Experienced in managing teams to deliver large, technically complex, fit for purpose safety cases Please note that due to security nature of this role, offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining BPSS security clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and will require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
