In addition to this role the Drama department currently has two part-time teachers and one full-time Theatre Technician who work closely together as a team. Drama is an extremely popular subject and students In Year 7, 8 and 9 have one lesson per week mainly in the theatre. We have two GCSE classes and two A Levels classes. The Drama department is central to the co-curricular life of the school, with a number of performance opportunities through the year, including House Drama, the Senior play and the Year 8 Shakesperience. There Is a whole school production each year and this is a two-year rotation, with a musical one year and a play the next. There are also a number of smaller productions throughout the year. The applicant must have experience in directing and organising school productions from small scale performances to full scale musical s and plays. Students perform onstage and support in all technical roles developing their skills in our weekly theatre tech club run by our Theatre Technician. The applicant will also have the ability to support students in creating their own work. The role additionally involves fostering links with external arts organisations, arranging theatre visits and overseas Drama trips. The School also offers LAMDA which is incredibly popular with two LAMDA peripatetic staff visiting the school each week. The Drama department benefits from a large and newly refurbished fully equipped theatre which has capacity for around 350. It features a modern lighting rig and full AV system. The position of Head of Drama offers an ambitious and dynamic specialist an exciting and highly rewarding leadership opportunity. The successful applicant will be able to teach all areas of the GCSE and A Level specifications. They will inspire a love of performance, creativity and passion for their subject to lead and inspire our students. In addition to this role the Drama department currently has two part-time teachers and one full-time Theatre Technician who work closely together as a team. Drama is an extremely popular subject and students In Year 7, 8 and 9 have one lesson per week mainly in the theatre. We have two GCSE classes and two A Levels classes. The Drama department is central to the co-curricular life of the school, with a number of performance opportunities through the year, including House Drama, the Senior play and the Year 8 Shakesperience. There Is a whole school production each year and this is a two-year rotation, with a musical one year and a play the next. There are also a number of smaller productions throughout the year. The applicant must have experience in directing and organising school productions from small scale performances to full scale musical s and plays. Students perform onstage and support in all technical roles developing their skills in our weekly theatre tech club run by our Theatre Technician. The applicant will also have the ability to support students in creating their own work. The role additionally involves fostering links with external arts organisations, arranging theatre visits and overseas Drama trips. The School also offers LAMDA which is incredibly popular with two LAMDA peripatetic staff visiting the school each week. The Drama department benefits from a large and newly refurbished fully equipped theatre which has capacity for around 350. It features a modern lighting rig and full AV system. Attached to the this is a new and bright Drama Studio and LAMDA area within the John Crook Theatre. There is also a departmental office with space for each of the staff to work.
