Excellent opportunity for an Experienced Electrical Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established construction company based in Swindon The Company Established for over 50 years, they are a family-run business with quality at the very heart of everything they do. They work on varied projects across many sectors, including retail, hospitality and leisure, for a wide range of clients such as Great Western Hospital, British Airways, Starbucks and Harrods. They are also airport specialists, undertaking installation, testing, commissioning and proactive/reactive maintenance across all UK airports, particularly Heathrow. They are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join their team, with experience in pricing commercial tenders and managing costs from initial enquiry through to project handover. They deliver all electrical projects in-house with their own team of electricians, so you will be required to price complete projects using their own labour rather than external subcontractor packages. This role is based at our head office in Swindon, with occasional travel to sites around the UK, typically in the south of England. Roles and Responsibilities: Estimating new electrical enquiries, obtaining prices from suppliers, and preparing and submitting tenders. Conducting site surveys and attending tender interviews as required. Once a project is live, working with the Project Manager to ensure material orders are placed on time and in line with the tender. Attending relevant meetings with clients, PQS, CA and other client representatives during the project, providing updates on contractual and financial issues as required. For larger projects, issuing payment or pay-less notices in line with contract requirements. Working closely with the Project Manager to ensure the project is delivered within budget. Experience and Qualifications: At least 5 years' experience pricing commercial electrical projects. Excellent technical knowledge of electrical installations, ideally gained through experience as an electrician. Commercially astute, with the ability to estimate costs and timescales accurately and meet tender return deadlines. Competent computer and data-handling skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. This is an interesting and varied role where every day is different, working as part of a friendly and supportive team. The company offer a competitive salary, negotiable depending on experience, and 25 days' holiday (plus bank holidays). The employer fully supports Equality in Employment. The role will initially cover works within the London area but our contract operates across the Homes Counties and through London and south down towards Crawley. About the Role As our Quantity Surveyor, you will manage the day-to-day commercial control, reporting and management of multiple projects from award up to final account. Within the role, you'll conduct site visits and carry out surveying duties; keeping your line manager appraised of the progress of all accounts, both client and sub-contract, through to finalisation. You'll have effective commercial control of all allocated projects, including the provision of timely and accurate documentation in accordance with the reporting timetable, in particular CVR's, forecasts, continuous improvement documents, cash flow forecast and the commercial register. In conjunction with the Procurement Team, you will ensure that the procurement of sub-trades and suppliers is undertaken in a timely and cost effective manner, and manage the timely production of the main/sub-contract final accounts, including re-measurement as necessary to ensure the best result, evaluation and agreement of all variations, extensions of time, loss and expense claims. About You We're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who is degree qualified or has experience of working in a partnering and target cost type model in planned maintenance for social housing providers and/or local authorities. Ideally you will have experience of working on large estate refurbishment projects and experience of the Building Safety Act relative to blocks and HRB's would also preferable. Holding a level 4 qualification in Construction or Management (or equivalent or demonstrate extensive experience in a similar / related role), you will also hold a White CSCS Card or be working towards this.
