South Essex College Engineering and Construction department are looking to recruit technicians who hold a minimum of a L3 Technical Qualification in either of the following areas; • Electronics Engineering • Electrical Installation • General Mechanical Engineering • Motor Vehicle • Plumbing • Construction Trades - Carpentry, Bricklaying, P&D or a combination of the above Experience of operating and maintaining equipment, knowledge and experience of complying with and advising on health and safety legislation, policy and procedures and experience of stock control is essential. The successful candidate will be required to: •Carrying out planned maintenance across the site in an accurate, timely and safe manner ensuring maintenance procedures are followed •Update records of work activities, tasks carried out, parts used through stores and training given •Work closely with manufacturers, suppliers and internal stakeholders departments in finding ways to improve process and reduce waste of resources •Respond to and diagnose equipment breakdowns, resolving issues and actioning repairs •Perform daily housekeeping and cleaning duties of all equipment. •Complete quality inspections to ensure work is completed to a safe standard •Provide advice and guidance on the use of relevant technical equipment, apparatus and materials to staff and students to facilitate teaching and learning. •Test, maintain and undertake minor repairs and sourcing of replacement parts to ensure the equipment is maintained in accordance with Health and Safety standards. •Give demonstrations to students and staff as required as part of the learning programme and to support teaching and learning and to deliver technical workshops as required. •Prepare and clear away equipment and materials required and used for classes in accordance with the curriculum requirements and as may be instructed by the Lecturer or other appropriate member of staff. •Advise and support the Academic Management team to order and maintain the appropriate levels of consumables and general stock management and to maintain the budget tracker Requirements • Competent technically in the field and hold a minimum of a L3 technical qualification • Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to impart knowledge effectively in supporting lecturers • Good organisation skills, able to prioritise • To be self-motivated and willing to work alone As well as competitive salary, which includes your holiday pay as this is a term time role, our benefits include; • College Additional leave • Local Gov Pension - Enhanced • Travel Expenses • Discounted on site Hair and Beauty facilities • Free Eye test and contribution towards glasses for VDU users • Enhanced sick pay and family (subject to policy terms) • On-site parking with discounted costs • Wellbeing Support and forum • Cycle to work scheme • Flu Jabs South Essex College is the largest provider of technical and vocational education and training for 16-18 year olds, adults and apprenticeship provision within Essex - and we are growing!
