KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Ancoats, Manchester Location: Ancoats, Manchester Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm Contract: Full-Time, Long Term About the Role An inclusive and supportive primary school in Ancoats is looking for a compassionate and dedicated KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This long-term role focuses on providing targeted support to pupils with additional needs, helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within a KS1 mainstream classroom. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils with EHCPs and those requiring additional learning or emotional support. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning delays Implement EHCP strategies and personalised support plans Support emotional regulation, sensory needs, and positive behaviour management Deliver structured interventions to enhance learning and engagement Promote independence, inclusion, and positive relationships Collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals Support pupils during daily routines and transitions throughout the school day The Ideal Candidate Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant Proven experience supporting children with additional or complex needs Knowledge of EHCPs, inclusive practice, and SEN strategies Calm, patient, nurturing, and resilient approach Confident in managing behaviour and supporting emotional needs What the School Offers A strong focus on inclusion and SEN support Ongoing guidance from experienced teaching and SEN staff A consistent, full-time role Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on pupils' development This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check , satisfactory references, and full compliance with KCSIE (2024) guidance and safer recruitment standards.
