Since 2015, we've lent over $18 billion across the UK and US, helped create more than 58,000 new homes and 36,000 new jobs, and supported hundreds of thousands of personal savers - all while fuelling the UK economy. Team Mission In Business Banking, the Onboarding squad's mission is to revolutionise SME onboarding by building an intelligent, flexible platform that seamlessly blends human expertise with smart technology. We pair program to work better through shared experience and knowledge. Focus on outcomes over outputs - Solving a problem for users that translates to business results is our goal. Measurements focused on that goal help us to understand if we are succeeding. Practice continuous improvement - We optimise for feedback now, rather than presume what might be needed in the future and introduce complexity before it will be used. This means we learn faster. We share learnings in blame-free formats, so that we do not repeat things that have failed, but still have confidence to innovate. Seek to understand our users - We constantly seek understanding from data and conversations to better serve our users' needs, taking an active part in research to hear from them directly and regularly. Embrace and enable continuous deployment - Seamless delivery of changes into an environment - without manual intervention - is essential for us to ensure that we are highly productive; consider resiliency; and practice security by design. Test outside-in, test first - TDD keeps us confident in moving fast, and deploying regularly. We want to solve user problems, and so we test with that mindset - writing scenarios first, then considering our solution; coupling tests to behaviour, rather than implementation. You build it, you run it ️ - We embrace DevOps culture and end-to-end ownership of products and features. Every engineer, regardless of their role, has the opportunity to lead delivery of features from start to finish. Be cloud native ️ - We leverage automation and hosted services to deliver resilient, secure services quickly and consistently. Where SaaS tools help us achieve more productivity and better quality results for a cheap price, we use these to automate low value tasks. How we expect you to behave We embrace difference and know that when we can be ourselves at work, we are happier, more motivated and creative. We want to be able to bring our whole selves to work, have our own perspectives and know that we belong. As such, through your behaviours at work, we expect you to reflect and actively sustain a healthy engineering environment that looks like this: A wide range of voices heard to the benefit of all Teams that are clearly happy, engaged, and laugh together Perceivable safety to have an opinion or ask a question No egos - people listen to and learn from others at all levels, with strong opinions held loosely What makes working here better This is a truly hybrid role, offering engineers the flexibility to work from home while also providing opportunities to collaborate in person with the team when it adds value. There's no fixed requirement for days in the office, instead, we focus on creating space for engineers to engage meaningfully, whether that's in-person for whiteboarding sessions or remote for deep focus work. Work-life balance - 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) each year, and enhanced family leave allowances. Competitive salary & equity - We want people to have a serious stake in the business. Good kit - Your choice of the best laptop, running macOS or Ubuntu. Team socials - The opportunity to get to know each other outside of work. Company socials - A chance to catch up and meet new colleagues weekly over informal office breakfasts and dinners on OakNorth - or at our free barista bar every day. Commuter support - We offer the cycle to work & EV scheme.

About Us We're OakNorth Bank and we embolden entrepreneurs to realise their ambitions, understand their markets, and apply data intelligence to everyday decisions to scale successfully at pace. Banking should be barrier-free. It's a belief at our very core, inspired by our entrepreneurial spirit, driven by the unmet financial needs of millions, and delivered by our data-driven tools. And for those who love helping businesses thrive? Our savings accounts help diversify the high street and create new jobs, all while earning savers some of the highest interest on the market. But we go beyond finance, to empower our people, encourage professional growth and create an environment where everyone can thrive. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse workplace where people can be themselves and succeed. Our story OakNorth Bank was built on the foundations of frustrations with old-school banking. In 2005, when our founders tried to get capital for their data analytics company, the computer said 'no'. Unfortunately, all major banks in the UK were using the same computer - and it was broken. Why was it so difficult for a profitable business with impressive cashflow, retained clients, and clear commercial success to get a loan? The industry was backward-looking and too focused on historic financials, rather than future potential. So, what if there was a bank, founded by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs? One that offered a dramatically better borrowing experience for businesses? No more what ifs, OakNorth Bank exists.

Senior Fullstack Engineer
Sylvera Limited
What is Sylvera anyway? Sylvera provides carbon data for genuine climate impact. Our mission is to incentivize investment in real climate action. Purchasing credits through the carbon markets is one of the most established and scalable ways to channel finance from the private sector to effective climate solutions and work toward societal net zero. Unfortunately, the voluntary carbon markets have been plagued with mistrust and a lack of effectiveness since they've emerged - until Sylvera. To help organizations ensure they're making the most effective investments, Sylvera builds software that independently and accurately automates the evaluation of carbon projects that capture, remove, or avoid emissions. With Sylvera's data and tools, businesses and governments can confidently invest in, benchmark, deliver, and report real climate impact. Our team is made up of leading minds in climate change from scientists to policy, finance and carbon market experts. We work in partnership with scientific organisations, universities, governments and think tanks to develop and test rigorous and holistic ratings methodologies, leveraging the latest technology. Founded in 2020, Sylvera has employees worldwide with offices in London, New York, Belgrade and Singapore. We've raised over $96million from leading VCs like Balderton Capital, Index Ventures and Insight Partners to date. What will I be doing? As a Senior Fullstack Engineer, you will play a key role by automating and enhancing the evaluation of climate project quality across diverse project types. Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, you'll identify workflow bottlenecks, propose scalable solutions, and develop REST APIs to support our frontend applications. Your contributions will ensure our tools are efficient, flexible, and equipped to handle a growing portfolio of climate projects. Technical Proficiency: Quickly onboard and work effectively with our current stack: Node.js, AWS, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and React. Partner with the rest of the team to deliver complete and integrated user solutions. Build and maintain platform capabilities, including APIs and front-end components, for seamless integration with internal and external tools. Problem-Solving: Design architectures and frameworks aligned with business goals to support rapid growth. Identify and address inefficiencies in development processes, ensuring reliability and scalability. Collaboration: Engage with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions. Work across teams to improve workflows, standardize testing, versioning, and metadata management processes. We're looking for someone who: Has full-stack engineering experience, including data platforms and building RESTful APIs. Can quickly adapt to unfamiliar tech stacks, including low-code systems. Consistently delivers high-quality, end-to-end solutions. Has expertise in designing and scaling production-grade systems. Is experienced in collaborating with stakeholders to develop well-tested solutions. Has strong communication skills to adapt well to our highly collaborative environment. Cares deeply about the climate and ecosystems of the earth. Is a self-starter who thrives in constantly evolving environments, ideally with startup experience. We'd like someone highly ambitious, motivated and eager to propel their career forward. We prioritise grit, positivity, and the willingness to get stuck in, and encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't exactly match this job description. Tech Stack We're tech agnostic when hiring, so you don't need experience with this stack to apply. If you're not familiar with this stack, then it's a great opportunity to join our team and learn new technologies (and we'll support that). Node.js Typescript Python REST API standards AWS as our cloud service provider Serverless technologies (Lambda, SQS, SNS, SES) PostgreSQL Snowflake Docker Circle.ci Sentry DataDog Benefits Equity in a rapidly growing startup Private Health Insurance and Life Assurance Unlimited annual leave Enhanced parental leave Access to Mental Health support via Spill Office bar tab once a month Weekly drinks in the office Catered lunch once a month in office Monthly Deliveroo/equivalent allowance once a month Location We work flexibly but encourage people to come in regularly to our great office in Old St. Our Values Own it: We make new mistakes. We build on the momentum of our wins and reflect on and learn from our failures. Stay curious: We keep our focus on the long-term, even if that means short-term challenges. Do what's right - even when it's hard: We take a growth mindset to our work, our customers, our market and the opportunities ahead of us. Collaborate and challenge with empathy: Our teams deliver through active collaboration. We invest in each others' success and make the company stronger in the long-run. Empower Customers: Make extraordinary efforts to exceed our customer expectations. If we're serving our customers to the fullest, we can help direct more investment into real climate impact. What if you're a partial fit? We prioritise grit, positivity, and the willingness to get stuck in, and encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't exactly match this job description. Equal employment opportunity Sylvera is an equal opportunity employer: we value diversity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

OakNorth Analytical Intelligence
OakNorth is a profitable business that has supported the growth of thousands of businesses. You'll lead the migration of a critical Java/React service to Python/React while maintaining the performance of our core banking platform and its microservices ecosystem. Over the next two years, you'll help scale our systems to manage increasing customer data and onboard a significantly larger user base by 2025 using a mix of modernized and new technologies. In this role, you'll also build and lead new engineering teams, fostering collaboration and driving technical innovation to overcome complex challenges. Work well cross-functionally and earn trust from co-workers at all levels. Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones. Enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different areas of expertise. You are comfortably organised amongst chaos. You are a broad thinker and have the capability to see the potential impact of decisions across the wider business. Tech stack We're pragmatic about our technology choices. These are some of the things we use now: TypeScript, React, styled-components Java & Python PostgreSQL, BigQuery, MySQL Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, pytest AWS, GCP ECS Fargate, Docker, Terraform, GitHub Actions How we expect you to work We expect you to work in these ways, as well as encouraging and enabling these practices from others: Collaborate - We work in cross-functional, mission driven, autonomous squads that gel over time. You build it, you run it - We embrace DevOps culture and end-to-end ownership of products and features. Every engineer, regardless of their role, has the opportunity to lead delivery of features from start to finish. Be cloud native - We leverage automation and hosted services to deliver resilient, secure services quickly and consistently. Where SaaS tools help us achieve more productivity and better quality results for a cheap price, we use these to automate low value tasks. How we expect you to behave We embrace difference and know that when we can be ourselves at work, we are happier, more motivated, and creative. We want to be able to bring our whole selves to work, have our own perspectives and know that we belong. As such, through your behaviours at work, we expect you to reflect and actively sustain a healthy engineering environment that looks like this: A wide range of voices heard to the benefit of all Teams that are clearly happy, engaged, and laugh together Perceivable safety to have an opinion or ask a question. No egos - people listen to and learn from others at all levels, with strong opinions held loosely What makes working here better Flexible, Hybrid Working - A flexible, Hybrid team with a dedicated London office available 5 days a week to use as we want to. Work-life balance - 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) each year, and enhanced family leave allowances. Competitive salary & equity - We want people to have a serious stake in the business. Good kit - We run macOS. Team socials - The opportunity to get to know each other outside of work. Company socials - A chance to catch up and meet new colleagues weekly over informal office breakfasts and dinners on OakNorth - or at our free barista bar every day. Commuter support - We offer the cycle to work scheme and EV scheme.

Full time
OakNorth is a profitable business that has supported the growth of thousands of businesses. This is your chance to make a tangible impact on a rapidly evolving platform. The role As a Staff Engineer you'll work with product and engineering across multiple squads to ensure the right trade-offs are being made and that dependencies and communication is managed effectively. Staff Engineers are the most visible engineers in the organisation and demonstrate technical excellence and our cultural values across all squads and to teams across the wider organisation. Have a strong technical background, including 8+ years of experience designing and engineering large scale systems. Lead squads to sensible architectural decisions on the most complex technical problems. Measure your success in terms of business impact, not lines of code. Internalise the best ideas from across the organisation, humbly setting a vision that others can get behind. Embrace DevOps culture: You build it, you run it. Work well cross-functionally and earn trust from co-workers at all levels. Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones. Enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different areas of expertise. You challenge the existing approach when you see the cliff edge racing towards us, but also get on board once the options have been debated and the team has made a decision.
