A Senior DevOps Engineer is required for our client based in Blackburn. Our client is currently moving from on-prem to cloud. This is an exciting new role within the organisation to help establish a DevOps culture. As the Senior DevOps Engineer you will be supporting the Technical Architect in developing, delivering and maintaining a future proofed technology architecture and infrastructure that will enable business transformation, achieve best value and underpin outstanding digital services. You will be working in close collaboration with both the infrastructure and development teams. In this role, you will be working with complex systems, designing, developing and integrating them within the new cloud environment. Using business knowledge and technical expertise to implement strategies, evaluate products and build upon an infrastructure to support the changing needs of the customers (internal and external). This exciting new role will be focused on helping establish a DevOps culture, coaching and guiding others towards this path. Our client is currently in a phase of planning new developments and they would like this role to help lead the way with exciting new technologies and ways of delivering, using infrastructure as code, continuous integration and delivery. You should have skills in Windows and Linux, Scripting, security, infrastructure design and being used to closely collaborating with development teams using a continuous delivery approach. Using your experience to help drive strategies towards cloud and infrastructure as code. You will also be key in shaping their cloud and infrastructure strategy. You should be well versed in Agile working but equally comfortable following ITIL principles when applicable. Essential: Professional technical qualification and certification in relevant areas. Experience with Source Control tools like Git/Azure DevOps with knowledge of branching strategies Team player, enthusiastic and the ability take initiative when required Good knowledge of modern Scripting languages (eg bash, Python, PowerShell). Good knowledge of security best practice and the hardening of systems Good knowledge of web Servers (Apache, nginx, IIS) In-depth experience of the Microsoft Stack ie Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Permissions, NFS and Microsoft Servers 2012 > 2019 Experience of cloud-based technologies ie AWS, Google and Azure Strong, in-depth and up to date knowledge of new and existing technology and industry trends and emerging technologies. Able to research and test out new technologies Experienced Linux/SYS/Solaris Administration skills Good communication skills, both delivering ideas and concepts but also an ability to grasp them as well. Knowledge of Automation tools and Infrastructure as code principles ie Jenkins, Terraform, puppet, Ansible etc Experience with Continuous Delivery processes and tools Knowledge of VMware/appropriate virtualisation solutions Knowledge of modern HP Blade and storage solutions Knowledge of Automation tools and Infrastructure as code principles ie Jenkins, Terraform, puppet, Ansible etc
