BBC Creative U - Masterclass (ONLINE)

We have an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to take their first step into the advertising industry. This is an unpaid masterclass for 12 weeks.
Introducing BBC Creative U, a 12-week ONLINE masterclass from the BBC's in-house agency, BBC Creative. The course is aimed at improving the diversity of talent entering the advertising industry and inspiring the next generation of advertising creatives.
Classes run every Tuesday from 4-6 pm, starting the 16th April 2024. The programme is free of charge and open to Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority backgrounds, aged 18 and over. The program equips you with essential skills and connects you with industry pros, to start a career in advertising.
Over the 12 weeks, experts from the BBC and beyond will conduct masterclasses in the core aspects of advertising, including idea generation, strategy, copywriting, and art direction. Plus, each student gets a dedicated mentor to support them during the program.

Application
As part of the application process you MUST answer 3 of the 5 questions below and email it to the BBC U team before 16th February 2024. The email address is please clearly state your name in the subject line.
We will also be checking against eligibility before we consider your application so please make sure that all questions are correct before you submit your application.
Answer 3 out of the 5 questions. Answer however you like, you don't need to be an expert or have the right tools, just be you.
1 - Create a TikTok that persuades cats to like dogs
(if you don't use TikTok, just make a 20 second film on your phone)
2 - Create a advert for the new Olympic sport, breakdancing
(it could be a radio ad, a script, a poster or a film)
3 - Please can you summarise your 2023 in a poster
(your year, on a page)
4 - Pick your favourite BBC theme tune and write lyrics for it
(singing is optional)
5 - Pick a celebrity and turn them into a chocolate bar
(what's in it? What's it called? What does the wrapper look like?)
