Director, New Product Planning - Rare Blood Disorders
Reporting to the Global Head of New Product Planning (NPP) for Sanofi Genzyme's Rare Blood Disorders (RBD) franchise, the Director NPP RBD will play a critical role in the future growth of the franchise; in particular, he/she will (1) leverage his/her deep understanding of global markets to inform the commercial strategy and brand development of the internal R&D pipeline drug candidates from discovery/preclinical through proof of concept; (2) support inorganic growth by leading the commercial assessment of external opportunities (In-licensing, collaborations, M&A) , and (3) work closely with the RBD senior management to lead, coordinate or support the development and articulation of the Therapeutic Area (TAS) and Disease Area Strategy (DAS).
The Director RBD NPP will collaborate with cross-functional teams and leaders across the organization including Research, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Business Operations, Commercial, Portfolio Decision Resources, BD, M&A, and Corporate Strategy. In particular, the Director RBD NPP will closely partner with Market Access, Health Economics, Forecasting, Market Research, Competitive Intelligence to deliver the commercial assessments and strategies.
The position is based in Cambridge MA, unless otherwise agreed to by the Global Head of NPP.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include (but are not limited to):
As a core member of the Global Project Team (GPT), provide commercial inputs to effectively develop and commercialize the drug candidates; support the team in preparing stage-gate decisions and presentations to governance committees (TARC, DWG, IDCC).
Direct market research to understand current and future disease trends including epidemiology, market dynamics, patient segmentation, treatment paradigm, patient journey, unmet medical needs, competition, market access and pricing environment; lead the development of target product profiles (TPP), brand positioning, partner with Market Access to define the value proposition, pricing assumptions; develop forecasting assumptions and revenues projections in close collaborating with the Forecasting team.
Generate required data and insights to support robust assessments. Liaise extensively with internal and external experts to evaluate products, pathways, and treatment approaches Translate key insights from scientific experts (internal R&D colleagues + external opinion leaders) into clear, actionable strategies for the franchise
Support the execution of the business development strategies, by providing commercial leadership and leading commercial assessments of external opportunities (Business Development, M&A), from identification & triage of opportunities, business case development, due diligence, to deal negotiation, financial modeling and contracting.
Drive the development and articulation of the TA and Franchise strategy through the Therapeutic Area Strategy (TAS) and Disease Area Strategy (DAS) annual process.
Lead the commercial assessment and support the technical and financial assessments for the Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM)
Spearhead ad-hoc strategic initiatives to identify, evaluate, and prioritize opportunities and develop actionable recommendations to advance the portfolio and the grow the business (e.g. portfolio management strategy, new indications, etc ). Contribute to expanding capabilities and building a portfolio of cutting-edge geneti-c therapies for RBD patients.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree required (MBA, MD, PharmD, MS, or PhD in life science preferred). 7+ years of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience, preferably with 3 to 5 years new product planning, or strategy consulting experience.
Strong leadership, strategic thinking, planning, analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
Driven and result-oriented; Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize work with a sense of urgency
Demonstrated the ability to work in a matrixed environment with many cross-functional partners
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and quickly adjust to changing priorities
Experienced or be familiar with the process of drug development from discovery research to commercialization
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize and deliver a clear overview of the strategy, opportunity and risks for Sanofi executives
Valid passport and ability to travel internationally approximately 20% of the time
