Job Description

Role Context:

The British Council is the UK's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities - changing lives by creating opportunities, building connections and engendering trust.

This role is based in the in-house Contract Management team supporting global projects with professional contracting advice and services.

The ideal candidates will have an understanding and experience of legal and contractual issues and possess excellent attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Provide a responsive, professional and customer-focused contract management advisory service to a range of internal clients/stakeholders to support ongoing commercial opportunities
  • Use in-house template documents to prepare appropriate agreements to meet business needs
  • Check contractual documents and ensure that information is correct
  • Comply with systems and procedures that are in place for storage and filing of contractual enquiries and documentation, to ensure an audit trail and compliance with contract retention policy.
  • Be accountable for and manage own time and prioritise workload in a busy environment frequently handling conflicting priorities and timelines;
  • Refer for additional support and guidance if required from other specialist internal teams

Role Specific Knowledge & Experience required:

  • Knowledge and experience of contract management, contracting and related legal areas
  • Knowledge of good practise programme/project management
  • Understanding of UK contract law and statutory requirements
  • Experience of effectively providing internal consultancy advice and support
  • Track record of successful Customer service
  • Competency across the range of IT systems and packages used by the business (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint etc).

Contract Type: Indefinite / Permanent role

Location: Hybrid working attached to any of our UK offices - London, Manchester, Cardiff, Edinburgh & Belfast
