Job Description
Our client owns and operates low carbon and renewable energy CHP networks, supplying district heat, cooling and electricity to large commercial and public sector customers, and approximately 1500 residential units. The business is generating assets that include nearly 10MW of gas fired CHP and over 1.8 MW of solar PV installations Role Purpose: The principal purpose of the role is to operate and maintain mechanical / Electrical plant and equipment within energy centres and network customers premises. The O&M Electrician is required to be able to service, diagnose faults and repair a wide range of plant with particular emphasis on Electrical plant associated with pumping, control, heat recovery, SCADA readouts, and PLC control. Working to a high technical standard in compliance with statutory requirements with regard to health and safety, the role is responsible for ensuring a high level of availability of plant and equipment, maintaining uninterrupted supply of energy. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Specific responsibility for the continued operation of fixed internal combustion engines including gas powered CHP direct coupled power generation equipment and diesel standby generators. Shared responsibility for asset management and repair and maintenance of district heat, power and chilled water generation, distribution and supply network apparatus Maintaining energy assets and electrical installation to maximise system availability, efficiency, minimise life cycle costs and ensure the protection of health and safety of personnel and the environment Monitoring and operating cooling towers (including water dosing equipment) in line with the legionella management system and HSE guidance. Prudent use of Planned Preventative Maintenance schedules General electrical engineering input into projects and tasks additional to Operation and Maintenance activities, including plant replacement, new customer connections and network extensions Qualifications and Experience: A strong understanding of plant O&M, relevant service delivery within the energy industry. Experience of operating and servicing power generating plant, electrical distribution, pumped heat and chilled water systems Experience of working with PLC/SCADA systems Experience in maintenance & repair for commercial pumps, motors & valves Willing to learn and become competent with the installed systems operating systems through SCADA interface 17th / 18th edition electrical regs Relevant qualifications to C&G or NVQ standard, relevant apprenticeship / qualification in electrical engineering. IOSH Working safely or similar ACoP L8 Legionella Aware Familiar with safe maintenance procedures for planned preventative maintenance. Experience in administration or operation of CMMS systems Strong communication skills verbal and written. A working knowledge of Microsoft packages Experience in small and large district heating networks desirable Remuneration: Basic Salary up to £40, Days annual leave plus Bank holidays (rising to 28 days) Pension Medical and Life Assurance
