Ecologist
Grade E - Salary: £25,419 to £27,514 pro rata per annum
Fixed Term Contract for 18 months 16 hours (2 days) per week.
Based at Yare House, Thorpe Road, Norwich with flexibility for home working
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual, with a range of ecological experience, to join our team of Ecologists working within the beautiful Norfolk and Suffolk Broads.
The successful candidate will hold a relevant environment degree and have a good understanding of environmental and conservation issues relating to wetland and aquatic ecosystems.
Knowledge and experience in undertaking environmental monitoring in aquatic systems and planning practical work across a range of conservation and countryside management situations is essential. The post holder will also be used to working with a varied team in the planning and delivery of practical works, including contractors and operational in-house staff.
The Ecology team provide ecological advice as part of the Authority s statutory planning function; familiarity of the planning system and consultation responses would therefore be beneficial. You must also possess good IT skills and have a working knowledge of GIS applications.
Desirable skills include livestock management as the role involves working with the Broads Authority s grazing animals.
