A new opportunity for the support and administration of Microsoft SQL databases, Azure databases, data warehouse, business intelligence and data transfer solutions that underpin critical IT solutions in use by all staff and volunteers across the British Red Cross UK and International sites
What you will be doing
As a Senior Database Administrator, you will have responsibility for providing data services to the organisation including support, development and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server & Azure databases, business intelligence, ETL systems, as well as the administration of SAS solutions and exposure to BizTalk and Azure Integration Services.
A key role within the team, you will act as a subject matter expert, defining standards and guidelines in the database area, supporting and influencing the definition and the implementation of the DDaT strategy. As a senior technical specialist you will provide technical direction and support for activities and projects involving database administration
You will also have the opportunity to work in Azure, gaining experience with new technologies and supporting new services developed as part of our 2030 strategy.
What we are looking for
To be considered for this role you must have:
* Extensive experience of MS SQL Server as a Production DBA
* Demonstrable experience developing Database maintenance plans
* Strong Microsoft SQL Server administration skills using Microsoft SQL Server 2016 and higher
* Knowledge of Microsoft Database Services within Azure
* Knowledge of Microsoft SSIS
* Well-developed communication skills, with proven ability to present difficult or complex ideas in user friendly language and to multiple audiences
* Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or higher full or partial certification; MCSA/MCSE/MCITP
* Understanding of networking concepts and technologies such as TCP/IP, HTTP and other web protocols, proxies and load balancers
