The Role The position is for enthusiastic and motivated Principal Consultants who will be part of our EIA teams, with specialisms in infrastructure EIA. We are currently looking to support our client a civil/structural consultancy firm - with a requirement for a Senior Civil Engineering candidate capable of operating at Project Lead level also. This will be a permanent staff role to start as soon as reasonably possible on a full-time hours basis, located out of an office based in Warrington. Within reason home working will be possible, but a good balance between office based and home work will be expected as well as regular travel for site visits and site meetings to a variety of UK based locations. Salary figures have not been released and will be negotiable to candidate s suitability and prior level of experience. The successful candidate should possess basic CAD skills as a minimum and have some familiarity with Autodesk Civils 3D software, and ideally other packages used within drainage work and projects Causeway Flow / Microdrainage etc. Good prior knowledge and expertise within drainage as a whole will be necessary as well as designing site levels/roads. The intent is that this person will fulfil the role of a Project Lead, running projects when on site and attending site meetings and to contractor queries. Therefore the candidate will be involved in design as well as project management. PRIMARY OBJECTIVES Lead the design and delivery of a project under instruction of the Director. Produce clear legible drawings using CAD software in accordance with company standards. Design foul and surface water networks to the required standard of the approving body. Apply sound engineering knowledge using innovative ideas to develop engineering solutions to engineering problems. Manage own workload and expectations to deliver and take responsibility for a design package on time and within budget. RESPONSIBILITIES • Ability to undertake the role of a technician. • Document control of all information received from external sources ensuring the latest information is always easily found. • Integrate Quality Assurance procedures, Health and Safety and company standards • Design of building and external levels, earthwork cut and fill volumes, external pavement construction. • Propose and coordinate retaining wall solutions • Design of below ground drainage, attenuation, flow control, SuDS features and pollution control. • Liaise with in house staff, Client, Clients representative, Architect, Mechanical & Electrical Engineer to coordinate a design package. • Liaise with Lead Local Flood Authority, Highway Authority, sewerage undertaker and the Environment Agency to obtain their respective approvals to suit the needs of the development. • Liaise with main contractor and design team to provide engineering advice, manage and coordinate design changes. • Attend site for inspections, client and design team meetings. • Produce or feed into monthly progress reports to be tabled at site meetings. • Produce an NBS Specification document to accompany designs TECHNICAL SKILLS • Ability to use the following software competently and independently o Autodesk Computer Aided Design. o Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. o Causeway Flow Drainage Design Professional OR o Microdrainage System 1, Source Control, Simulation o Autodesk Civils 3D or PDS ground modelling and road alignment software • Sound understanding of building elements, structure and foundation options, external works and ground improvement methods. • Sound understanding of the construction design team, tender and construction process. • Sound understanding of the planning process, Building Control approval and BREEAM. • Experience in obtaining technical approval under o Section 38 and 278 of the Highways Act. o Section 106 connection, 104 Adoption and 185 Diversion of the Water Industry Act. • Application of the following guides, but not limited to, in designs o British Standards o Approved Documents H and M o Sewers for adoption o Design Manual for Roads and Bridges o Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works o FTA Designing for delivery o CIRIA SuDS Manual o CDM regulations • Interpretation of the following, but not limited to, in designs o topographical surveys o underground utility surveys o Site and building floor plans o ground investigations o flood risk assessments o Client specifications TRANSFERRABLE SKILLS • Excellent time keeping, presentation, organisational and communication skills. • Have a polite manner, be well-spoken, positive and professional at all times. • Be kind and considerate to others irrespective of faith, race, language, gender, age, ability. • Contribute to a healthy office environment by maintaining a tidy after one self attitude to desk space, kitchen and WCs. • Be able to work independently and as part as a team.
