MOO set out to shake up the world of print back in 2006. And we've come a long way since. Today we're a 400 + strong team (we're thinking of getting matching jackets) who create print and digital products for companies of all sizes - from Google and AirBnB to the guy who makes those amazing prints you found at a craft fair. Our global HQ is in London, UK, while we also have premises in Dagenham. In the US, you'll find us in Boston, MA, as well as East Providence, RI and Denver, CO. We're making new and exciting things - and we could really do with your help. Our Architecture team at MOO is comprised of skilled professionals from a variety of backgrounds, all dedicated to shaping the technological future of MOO. We combine our diverse expertise and collective experience to innovate in key areas such as ecommerce, fulfillment, and manufacturing. In our team, collaboration and forward-thinking are not just ideals but the foundation of our work. Our principal engineers engage actively with different engineering teams across MOO, ensuring that our architectural vision is integrated and coherent across the company's various technological initiatives. This collaborative approach allows us to develop systems and infrastructures that support MOO's ambitious goals while maintaining adaptability and alignment with the company's overall direction. We are committed to continuous learning and improvement, always seeking to advance our architectural strategies to meet the dynamic needs of the business. The Role: MOO's Principal engineers work closely together with our Architect, so bring guidance about technical approaches and bring consistency to the 'how' of things. You'll be operating in a peer group that can bring collective decades of experience to bear on problems and are used to communicating with technical and non-technical audiences alike. Our Principal engineers are hands-on in the code one way or another, and they work with our entire engineering community as a coach and mentor, while also encouraging innovative solutions and consistent decision making. You'll report into our Head of Architecture, and be part of a team of principal engineers. Your peers specialise in other areas, so you will complement the team by bringing in your experience and skills in the test automation area, as well as a good level of expertise in observability. Your input will support the build of MOO's new platform - the highest profile project the business has right now. So expect to join a fast-paced, high impact team that sets out to collaborate in a smart, humane way. The person we're looking for: We're using AWS (with API Gateway, AWS Lambda, ) as the backbone of our new platform approach. We use Terraform for IaC purposes and code is principally in TypeScript or Java. The project's 'buy over build' philosophy means we have a number of large SaaS systems that the team leverages. Inside that overall technical landscape, you will primary look after testing practises, and also inspire observability solutions. Alongside the Head of Architecture, and other principal engineers, you will also engage with the wider group of software engineers at MOO to Tackle It Together (=one of our company values). Beyond that, you'll also support short term needs that the development of our new platform requires. This will focus on needs across technology stacks and domains, as opposed to being limited to just one stack. You'll need to be comfortable dealing with ambiguity, inspire the teams with new approaches and play a key role in establishing best practises, principles and tooling. Responsibilities Establishing a Test Strategy: developing and evolving a comprehensive testing strategy for MOO, considering the entire testing pyramid, including unit, integration, automated, security and exploratory testing.
