Our client, a significant player in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking experienced Bench Wirers to join their team in Staffordshire. This is a permanent role within the electrical manufacturing team, working on cutting-edge platforms. As a Bench Wirer, you will need to demonstrate precision, safety, and adherence to high-quality standards in all tasks. Key Responsibilities: Wire and assemble electrical components, control panels, and looms in accordance with engineering drawings and build instructions. Install cable looms and harnesses as required. Carry out termination work (crimping, soldering, lacing) in line with company and customer standards. Read and interpret detailed wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical layout drawings. Work with assorted connector types, trunking, conduit systems, and cable management solutions. Perform functional, continuity, and insulation testing of completed assemblies using a bench test machine (training will be provided). Maintain documentation and comply with all quality assurance requirements (e.g., MITPs, Traveller Docs, FAIRs, and QARs). Work to IPC 620 and internal build standards. Adhere to site health & safety, environmental, and security protocols. Job Requirements: Experience as a Wirer in a similarly regulated environment. Familiarity with MOD, IPC-620, or DEF-STAN wiring practices. Ability to work with tight tolerances and detailed electrical instructions. Competency in the use of hand tools, test meters, and work documentation. Capability of working individually or as part of a modular team on complex builds. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work. NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. IPC-620 Certified. Previous experience working within Aero/Defence contracts/projects. Good knowledge of lean manufacturing processes and 5S practices. Job Specification: Panel Wirer Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Panel Wirer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for electrical control panel wiring, assembly, and component installation, working from a variety of technical drawings. This role requires precision, reliability, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high quality standards. Key Responsibilities Perform electrical control panel wiring to required standards. Read, interpret, and work from schematic drawings . Work from additional technical documentation including GA drawings , fabrication drawings, and build instructions. Carry out mechanical assembly and construction of control panels. Fit and install components, including wire preparation and terminations. Confident use of hand tools relevant to the role. Perform soldering work as required. Required Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Panel Wirer or similar electrical assembly role. Strong understanding of electrical wiring practices and panel build processes. Ability to follow technical drawings with a high degree of accuracy. Competence in mechanical assembly, component fitting, and soldering. Excellent attention to detail. Personal Attributes Strong problem-solving abilities. Ability to work to deadlines with effective time management. Self-motivated , able to work with minimal supervision.
