Systems Accountant - Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Location: Office-based (Greater Manchester)

Salary: £41,650 - £56,000

Type: Full-time, Permanent

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Systems Accountant with strong experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC) to join a global organisation undergoing major digital transformation. You'll take full ownership of D365 BC, ensuring it runs efficiently and continues to evolve with business needs.

This is a hands-on role that blends finance, systems, and project delivery. You'll work closely with the finance team and other departments to drive continuous improvement, system optimisation, and best-in-class user experience.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the subject matter expert for D365 Business Central, configuring, maintaining, and enhancing core finance modules (GL, AP, AR, Tax, VAT, Inventory, etc.)
  • Support and lead activities across requirements gathering, testing, UAT, training, and go-live support
  • Partner with Finance to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
  • Manage upgrades, change requests, and integrations (including Salesforce)
  • Deliver workshops, documentation, and training for users and superusers
  • Ensure data accuracy, compliance, and standardisation across global entities
  • Contribute to system strategy and digital transformation projects
  • Provide internal system support and troubleshooting
What You'll Need
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Systems Accountant or similar role using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Solid understanding of finance processes, reporting, and internal controls
  • Proven ability to translate finance requirements into scalable system solutions
  • Experience across finance modules such as GL, AP, AR, Tax, and VAT
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across departments
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Desirable
  • Experience in the charity or not-for-profit sector
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform or Power BI
  • Accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
  • Experience with agile delivery or enterprise roadmap planning
