Location

HYBRID WORKING-Officers are working 2 days from home and 3 days at Hounslow House/outreach. Every Tuesday, all officers are requested to work from Hounslow House.


Description

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

To support the development, delivery and co-ordination of non-statutory, borough wide issues in response to refugees, asylum seekers and evacuees living in Hounslow.

All applicants must have have experience of both asylum and HfU(Homes for Ukraine) scheme please.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • To conduct this work in a way that shows an understanding of risks to men and the lived experience/issues for asylum seekers and refugees
    • Be a familiar and reliable first point of contact for men from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds.
    • Identify risks to men and respond to all safeguarding concerns.
    • Point of contact between men and other agencies through their specific accommodation, for example sponsors or contingency hotels
    • To provide practical and emotional support and have knowledge of local and national services useful to men
    • To ensure early assessment of needs and risks, such as exploitation, Modern Day Slavery concerns and domestic abuse (as victim or perpetrator)
    • To provide early intervention support and response to reduce isolation
    • Identify and respond to all adult and child protection concerns and generate safeguarding referrals
    • Actively improve wellbeing and safety for men by developing and facilitating groups/workshops, such as anti-bullying, appropriate use of social media, safety in relationships, abusive behaviours and views, employment opportunities, law in the UK, substance misuse awareness, sexual health, budgeting, CV writing
    • To encourage as well as develop peer support opportunities/peer support.
    • Ensure best practice is applied relating to data protection and confidentiality matters and when supporting victims and their children affected by domestic abuse.
    • Be accessible and promote the service to those in dispersed accommodation.
    • Hold a caseload and attend case management meetings, including clinical supervision.

Qualifications and Experience:

Knowledge of refugees and asylum seekers is desirable but an understanding of
the lived experiences of those from different communities and cultural awareness
is essential.
Relevant experience working with perpetrators of domestic abuse, sexual assault
or any violent crime is desirable.
Relevant experience working with and supporting men who have been
perpetrators or victims of domestic abuse, sexual violence, or any other violent
crime.
Experienced and confident engaging with partners to promote a multi-agency
response.
