Job Title: Disrepair / Damp & Mould Surveyor
Location: Essex (travel across the patch required)
Salary: 50,000 per annum (Own vehicle required)
Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role:

We are working with a reputable Housing Association in Essex seeking an experienced Disrepair / Damp and Mould Surveyor to join their Property Services team. This is a key role focused on delivering high-quality surveying services relating to housing disrepair claims, with a particular emphasis on damp, mould, and condensation issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out detailed inspections of domestic properties to assess disrepair issues, including damp and mould, condensation, leaks, and structural faults.
  • Provide professional technical reports, including Scott Schedules, in line with legal disrepair protocols.
  • Liaise with tenants, contractors, solicitors, and internal departments to progress disrepair claims and remedial works.
  • Provide expert advice and technical solutions to prevent and resolve damp and mould problems across the housing stock.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant housing legislation, health and safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor progress of works, ensuring quality, timeliness, and tenant satisfaction.
  • Represent the organisation in legal proceedings if required, providing evidence and professional opinion.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in social housing, with a strong understanding of disrepair, damp and mould diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Knowledge of Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), Section 11 Landlord and Tenant Act, and relevant housing legislation.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload independently.
  • A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle (mileage paid).
  • Relevant technical qualifications (e.g. HNC/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent) are desirable.
