Job Description:

Our Client develops sustainable, functional and commercially viable projects. They work with a range of clients in the residential and mixed use sectors, as well as in the commercial, leisure and public sectors. They are strategically placed to work across Greater London, the South East and West of the UK and currently looking to recruit an experienced Residential Architect/Designer.
Residential Architect/Designer role overview:

Description

  • CANDIDATES MUST BE LOCATED IN ESSEX OR EAST LONDON
  • Design feasibility housing layouts to assist land buyers determine the initial potential of developments for land acquisition and for existing sites.  Highlight any design problems which could affect planning permission or profitability. 
  • Liaise with Local Authority Planning and Building Control departments, statutory bodies, consultants and clients. 
  • Liaise with all design staff as necessary when preparing new design concepts for cost and practical appreciation. 
  • Collate information from all parties determined by feasibility scheme and produce planning presentation drawings to allow for application to be made to obtain planning permission.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings to discuss feasibility sketch layouts and planning applications and working drawing packages. Contribute to progress meetings as and when required. 
  • Check drawings and information from both within the drawing office and external departments/consultants to ensure all information corresponds. 
  • Supervise and coach other team members. 
  • Ensure all relevant CDM risk assessments and relevant drawing office checklists are prepared 
  • Review Quality Assurance procedures as necessary to maintain suitability.

Additional Information

  • Must have sound experience in the private/public sector house building industry, with proven experience and knowledge of site layout and house design which incorporates flair and imagination with commercial awareness and highlights good communication/   interpretation, quality, efficiency and profit. 
  • Must understand housing quality indicator requirements and other relevant documents i.e. London Housing Design Guide. 
  • Must have proven knowledge of Building Regulations relevant to planning & design issues. 
  • Commitment to developing and delivering products that are both innovative and competitive. 
  • Must have design flair and possess the ability to analyse and problem solve in addition to identify opportunities.
  • An ability to work to deadlines in essential. 
  • Proficient in AutoCad. Proficiency in SketchUp, Photoshop and In-Design would be an advantage
