Job Description:

I am looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager for an exciting global engineering conglomerate to be responsible for health and safety of the maintenance department. You will be charged with overseeing the day to day running of the maintenance function to ensure operations and other stakeholders are supported at all times. You will  ensure that all resources, internal and external connected to the delivery of maintenance are managed and that costs are controlled and value for money achieved.
 
As the Maintenance Manager will also ensure that the maintenance teams have the relevant skills to attend all plant and equipment issues as well as co-ordinating the management of change requests for all equipment changes.
 
Job Requirements:
 
  • Co-ordination and day-to-day management of work completion for all types of maintenance.
  • Ensure that the skills and competencies of the Maintenance team are constantly developed to meet the needs of the business.
  • Act as a central point of contact for maintenance on a day to day basis.
  • Ensuring that the optimum resource is deployed necessary to complete the works and that non-productive time is minimised or eliminated.
  • Ensure that effective team member and contractor performance reviews take place, that measurement and review drives continuous improvement in technician and contractor performance, and that SLA targets are met and exceeded by 3rd party suppliers.
  • Proactively promote a positive Health & Safety culture, leading towards a target of zero harm
for JM personnel and contractors Actively contribute towards a Process Safety Management
programme to improve the Site process risk profile.
  • Actively review engineering works to ensure that work is being carried out safely in accordance with our relevant safe systems of work and offer coaching and development where required to achieve the necessary level of EHS performance in the teams.
  • Continuously explore ways to improve delivery to customers and through this achieve excellence in operational efficiency and effectiveness using proven lean methodology and problem solving tools.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient achievement of operational availability targets in accordance with the operational needs of the business.
  • Ensure that all changes to plant and equipment are co-ordinated through management of change in a timely manner and that the process is regularly reviewed for adherence.
  • Actively participate in the JM Energy reduction commitment looking for ways to reduce energy
        consumption in work area.
  • Act as a point of contact for engineering input into capital projects
  • Work with onsite maintenance planning team and reliability engineers to ensure that improvement plans and a system for preventative maintenance are in place for areas of poor equipment performance.
  • Ensure that resource deployment is managed in accordance with resource forecasts, that attendance is managed and accurately recorded and that skills/familiarities are accurately recorded such that work scheduling is effective.
  • Effective management and control of all maintenance revenue spend, forecasting expenditure and carrying out regular reviews of actual spends vs. allocated budgets. Assist business in meeting financial targets.
 
 
 
ORGANISATION STRUCTURE (including Reporting Lines)
 
You will report to the Head of Engineering and have 6 direct reports (Lead Engineer, Site Services Co-ordinator and 4 Team Leaders).
 
SCOPE/DIMENSIONS
 
  • Be a key member of the engineering team for the PGMS UK business
  • Responsible for ensuring EHS standards are met for maintenance teams
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure customer expectations are met
  • Provide engineering support to capital projects
  • Communicate at several levels within business
 
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
 
TRAVEL
You will normally not be expected to travel as part of your role other than between Enfield and Royston.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Your normal working environment will be office based. There will be occasional visits into the shop floor environment where molten metal, explosive atmospheres and hazardous/dangerous substances as well as noise exist due to nature of process and plant.
 
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
 
  • Engineering  degree or equivalent
  • Several years relevant experience in a maintenance environment
  • Significant previous line management experience within maintenance/engineering role
  • Experience of organisational change management
