Role: Process Safety Engineer Location: Elton, CH2 Hours of work: 08:00 - 17:00 Monday - Thursday / 08:00 - 14:30 Friday Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 Per Annum + 20% Bonus Mainstay Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Process Safety Engineer on behalf of one of the UKS largest glass manufacturers in the UK. As a Process Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for the management and control of major accident hazards and risk to the sites and for site compliance with legislative requirements. Duties of the role: Lead the development and implementation of internal Process Safety policies and procedures to meet the COMAH regulations requirements Provide leadership, and technical assistance on process safety issues acting as the local expert for Process Safety activities. When required, support operations in assessing day-to-day process safety related issues by reviewing isolations, risk assessments, drawings and procedural changes Establish appropriate Major Accident risk management processes for Elton & Derrylin (NI) sites both Lower Tier COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) Coordination of Process Safety Risk Assessments for the site including HAZOP, HAZID Establish an effective management system for Process Safety tasks and for assuring that all the required Process Safety documents are maintained and continually improved Ensure the effective Implementation of Management of Changes (MoCs), process hazard analysis, safe operating limits, and other process safety elements, facilitating action plan development and implementation of process improvements Coordinate activities related to the assessment, mitigation and the completion and maintenance of Process safety including Hazard Studies/HAZOP/ ALARP/CDOIF and compliance COMAH Regulations Provide assistance to COMAH and Hazardous Substance Consent compliance projects Work alongside Environmental & HS Team to deliver safety and environmental risk and impact assessments in support of COMAH and Environmental Permitting needs Lead the development and implementation of internal Process Safety policies and procedures to meet the COMAH regulations requirements Provide leadership, and technical assistance on process safety issues acting as the local expert for Process Safety activities. AS a Risk Assessment Practitioner, you will be responsible for reviewing and revising the sites risk register, review safety operating procedures and develop the risk assessment register. Main Duties of the role: To review & revise the site's Risk Register, identify HS regulatory compliance gaps in risk assessment documents and verify alignment to ISO 45001 standard requirements for Risk Management. Review of Safe Operating Procedures, identify gaps in risk assessment control measures and jointly lead risk assessment reviews with employees to update and improve this working document. Identify corrective actions from risk assessment and set up a tracking system to manage to completion. Assess Health & Safety Regulations for the mandatory & statutory risk assessments that must be in place and take action to complete to meet gaps. Lead the development and implementation of Risk Assessment program that supports the Operational Teams and meets the Health & Safety and Legal compliance Obligations for the Manufacturing business Develop and update the site Risk Assessment Register, records management, and revalidation process Practical risk assessor working with different employees to review tasks and update as necessary Assess the risk assessment information and identify levels of priority that could influence the training & refresher requirements Update the Risk Assessment Procedures and verify that the business is meeting the ISO 45001 standard requirements Set up and monitor a Corrective Action register from Risk Assessments Align with other manufacturing sites to share common task assessments and risk mitigation controls Work with H&S Managers on sites to deliver risk assessment program to close any legal or task risk inadequacies Candidates Requirements Experience in carrying out Task Risk Assessments Nebosh or equivalent H&S Good understanding of ISO45001 std Good understanding of HS Legal obligations Proven experience of working within manufacturing environment and as a Risk Assessor Ability to plan and organise, to communicate effectively and to analyse complex situations and think strategically Be able to work independently and under your own initiative Ability to facilitate group involved in the risk assessment Hours of work: 08:00 - 17:00 - Monday - Thursday / 08:00 - 14:30 Friday Pay Rate: Up to £42,000 - £45,000 per annum + Bonus If you are interested in the role, please contact Aaron in our Walsall office.
