Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust Service Director Forensic Mental Health & Offender Healthcare Salary: Competitive (Band 9) Location: Dartford, Kent Known for the distinctive high quality of our services, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust serves a diverse community, offering mental health, learning disability, community health and offender healthcare services across outer SE London and, for our offender healthcare services, Kent, South West England and London. With an annual income of £450m and c4,500 staff, our overall Trust CQC rating is 'good', and our forensic mental health service is rated 'outstanding'. We are a Trust that welcomes and supports diversity and innovation, and this is a stimulating time to be joining the Trust as we refresh our strategic priorities and play a key role in shaping the Oxleas' future for our patients and continuing to make it one of the best places to work for our staff. This opportunity has arisen due to the retirement of our current Service Director. Responsible for the safe delivery of highly effective mental and physical health services for Forensic Mental Health and Offender Healthcare service user groups, this role has a significant remit, with a budget of circa £104 million and circa1,210 staff, including nursing, medical, psychological therapies, allied health professionals, and management and support staff, as well as being responsible for a number of sub-contracts. Central to this role is joint working with our service users and their families, and with our external partners, including NHSE, third sector partners and colleagues within HM Prison Service. Our work with the South London and Maudsley Mental Health Trust and South West London & St George's Mental Trust as the South London Mental Health Partnership (SLP) is well established. The Service Director will work with SLP partners as the Lead Operational Director with responsibility for the day-to-day management of the programme, and this will involve close liaison with Service Directors/ Leads in the sovereign trusts and the commissioning hub. Our Offender Healthcare portfolio has seen considerable expansion with the incorporation of services in Kent in 2021 and the south west of England in 2022. There is now a need to consolidate these services and ensure consistency of quality in service delivery and ensure that staff throughout the directorate feel part of the Oxleas family. Can you help Oxleas continue to strive for equity for both its staff and those who use its services? Do you have the flexibility and openness of mind to work with colleagues in your services and in the Executive team to develop innovative approaches to improving patient health? Are you passionate about the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of our local communities and how we can improve outcomes? Can you be an advocate within the NHS and the wider clinical world for the innovations that you and our staff develop at Oxleas? You will have led the delivery of health or social care in complex organisations and have the vision and drive to bring about system-level change. And, through your personal life experience or professional skills, bring insights that will enhance our ability to make a significant difference to the experience at work of our diverse staff and to the treatment of patients. We are also seeking a variety of personal experience and believe the combination of different backgrounds in the Executive Team is as crucial to understanding and delivering quality to patients as are our professional qualifications - the diversity of our experience is what enables us to put ourselves into the shoes of our patients. As such, we are interested in where your understanding of the importance of diversity comes from and how you will add your difference to both the Executive as well as the Directorate team that you manage. We are keen to encourage applications from the widest variety of people. We want all suitable candidates to apply, and we want to ensure that we do hear from you if you can bring insights to the work of the Trust if you are from a black or Asian background, live with a disability (visible or not) or are LGBTQI+. We would very much like to hear how you can bring ideas in from outside the team to solve problems in unconventional ways and help to clarify team and organisational goals. We also want to hear how you can help us to turn ideas into actions by understanding the Trust and how to make change happen. This is a highly rewarding role for someone who cares passionately about delivering the best possible healthcare.
